Word of Life Youth Club

Northside Baptist Church has a vibrant youth ministry every Friday night from 6:45 pm to 10 pm. Every teen age 12- 18 is welcome to come and hear instruction from God’s Word and pray and sing with others their age as well as enjoy fellowship, play sports and games, and participate in special activities. Two Friday’s a month we stay at the church for a time of teaching from God’s Word, small group study and prayer time, and sports and games. There is a “Snack Shack” open on these nights for teens to purchase snacks and pop. The other Friday’s we run a special activity, leaving from the church to participate in the activity and then returning to the church for a time of teaching, singing, and prayer. Every Friday night there are three hours packed with teaching, fellowship, and fun designed to see the teens develop wisdom in their lives; that is knowing and obeying God’s Word.

Apart from the regular Friday night activities, the youth program is filled with even more opportunities for ministry and spiritual growth. Throughout the year we get together with youth from across the province to participate in several large activities such as an all-nighter, Snow Camp, and the Volleyball Marathon. Once every few months we sing and fellowship with the residents of a local nursing home and we plan on doing ministry in other local churches in our area. Every year there is a large two -day event called Teens Involved where teens are encouraged to use their talents and abilities for ministry. Our teens are involved in drama, Bible quizzing, puppet presentations, preaching and teaching, and numerous musical ministries. Throughout the summer months (June, July, and August) we have a prayer and Bible study time on Wednesday nights from 7 pm to 8:30 pm. 

During the year there are two special trips that are planned to help the teens in their spiritual growth and in their decisions for the future. During the March Break we travel to a number of different colleges to introduce the teens in grades 10-12 to college life and to various institutions to help them with their decision about what to do after high school. In the summer we travel to different provinces and countries to do ministry on our annual missions trip. This ten -day trip is designed to expose the teens to different ministries and cultures, and to give them another opportunity to minister to others and to grow spiritually themselves.

It is our goal to instruct the teens in God’s Word and display through our lives what it means to live according to God’s Word. We give the teens many opportunities to discover the talents God has given them and then to use those talents for ministry. We believe that the Bible is the only true foundation for life, and we base our ministry to the teens solely on it, with the goal of helping the teens become obedient to God in every aspect of their lives. One of our theme verses is 1 Timothy 4:12 which says,” Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” We believe that the teens are the church of tomorrow and a vital part of the church of today.
