'Can we go to AWANA again next week?'

That's the question that most kids ask their parents after their first Club meeting! AWANA is a children's program for boys and girls from age 2 to 13, and each week a well-qualified staff of leaders who are dedicated to Christian ideals provide consistent, Biblical teaching. Your children will learn about the reality of God, the truth of the Bible, and how to find peace through reliance on Jesus. As a parent you'll appreciate AWANA for many reasons. You'll know that your child is being led in a structured, well-prepared program with a fun new theme every week. Materials are superbly written, based on memorizing the Bible and living in light of it every day, and game time teaches the importance of being a team player. In short, AWANA is dedicated to bringing children to Jesus Christ and training them to serve Him.

Summer Ministries

Sonshine Club

No, that's not a spelling error! Our summer Sonshine club is all about Jesus and living like Him, and is designed for children aged 2-11 years old. It runs Wednesday evenings from 7-8:30 pm beginning the second Wednesday night in June for 12 weeks. Each summer has its own theme and the evening is full of Bible stories and lessons, games, crafts, snacks and music. All are invited and encouraged to attend.

Sports Camp

The first week in July means sports camp time. Running Monday to Friday from 9 am to 12 pm for children aged 4-11, the children are taught important truths from God's word as well as sports skills. Each day ends with a scrimmage and the children are encouraged to use both their new skills as well as their new attitudes learned from God's word. Sportsmanship is not just a nice ideal but a reality, and each child receives a poster with their participation stickers, a water bottle, a t-shirt, and a piece of equipment relevant to the sport learned that week. Soccer Camp

The last week of August is soccer time, teaching the children skills in this game which is rapidly becoming more popular in Canada as well as learning what God's word has to say about athletics and life. This camp is open for all children aged 4-11 and runs Monday to Friday from 9 am to 12 pm. This program is sponsored by AWANA, and is a great lead in for each new AWANA year. Children's Church

Sunday Morning

Children are a precious gift from God, an amazing blessing that God loans to us for a very short period of time. At Northside we want to do all we can to reach children with the good news that Jesus loves them and wants them to live life God's way.

Childcare is provided during the morning worship time for all children ages 0-3. Those children aged 0-23 months are cared for in our beautiful nursery facility. This clean, secure environment is designed to protect and provide for the youngest children as they quickly develop through different stages. Our play area separates the more mobile children from those that are not, and our pager system allows parents to have peace of mind while also doubling as part of our security features. We have a separate room for breastfeeding mothers, and all the amenities necessary to care for our precious little ones, including feeding stations, diaper changing stations, and cribs for nap time.

Children ages 2-3 are cared for in their own room, designed for structured play as well as learning from God's word and how to interact with others God's way.

Children ages 4 to 7 are invited to attend the opening of our worship service along with their parents. Just before the message from God's word they are prayed for and dismissed from the service into individual classes (4-5 year olds and 6-7 year olds) where thay are taught from God's word at their own level.

Children ages 8 and up are invited to stay with their families throughout the entire worship service.

Sunday Evening

As with Sunday morning, children aged 0-3 years are cared for year round in both the nursery and the toddler room.

Our Sunday evening program for children aged 4 and up is drama based and runs in three different segments throughout the year.

From January to April the children will be learning a drama based on Scripture and designed to show them how to live God's truth. The last Sunday evening in April is set aside for the children to present their drama to the church family.

From May to August there is no program for children aged 4 and up and they are enouraged to attend the worship service along with their family.

From September to December the children aged 4 and up will be dismissed to practice for their particiption in the annual Christmas drama/ musical. They will have a Bible lesson as well, and will learn all their lines and songs to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
