STATEMENT OF FAITH AND CHURCH COVENANT
Section 1. Statement of Faith
The Statement of Faith is irrevocable
and cannot be amended
by the church.
WE BELIEVE IN THE:
INSPIRATION OF SCRIPTURE
The Bible is the verbally and inerrant
inspired Word of God
in its original Scripture and the sole authority in all matters of
faith and practice. (I Cor. 2:9-13; II Peter 1:19-21; II Tim. 3: 16,17)
TRIUNE GOD
There is one God eternally existent
in three persons: Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit. (John 4:24; James 1:17; Psalms 139:1-16;
Psalms 2:2,7; Isa. 63:10; John 16:7,15,26)
DEITY OF CHRIST
In the Deity of Christ, His virgin
birth, His shed blood for
atonement, His bodily resurrection, His ascension, and His
personal return to establish His kingdom on earth. (John 1:1,2;
Rom. 9:5; II Peter 1:1; Luke 1:31-35; Isa. 7:14; Phil. 2:6-8; II Cor. 5:14,15; I
Cor. 15:1-4; Rev. 3:10; Matt. 24:29-31)
TOTAL DEPRAVITY OF MAN
All men are by nature sinful and
lost and that for eternal
salvation, Holy Spirit regeneration is absolutely essential.
(Eph. 2:8,9; Rom. 6:10; I John 2:3; Rom. 3:24; John 3:5; Titus
3:5; Rom. 5:1)
PERSONHOOD OF SATAN
Satan is a person and that the Lake
of Fire is a place of
eternal conscious punishment for all unsaved. (Isa. 14:12-14;
Ezek. 28:14; Rev. 20:7; Rev. 20:11-15)
PERSON AND WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit's relationship to
man is to convict of sin
and bring one to Christ, (John 6:44; John 12:32; John 15:26;
John 16:7-14) to indwell, (Rom. 8:9), seal, (Eph. 1:13,14; I Cor.
12:12,13) and to fill. (Epli. 5:18)
SALVATION BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH
ALONE
Men are justified on the single ground
of faith in the shed
blood of Jesus Christ. (II Cor. 5:18-21; I John 2:2; Titus 3:5;
Rom. 5:1; Eph. 2:8,9)
THE BODY OF CHRIST ON EARTH
The body of Christ on earth consists
of all born - again
believers. A New Testament Church is a local organized body of
baptized believers practicing scriptural ordinances and actively
engaged in fulfilling the Great Commission. (Eph. 5:23,24;
I Cor. 5:4; Acts 15; Matt. 28:19,20; Eph. 4:11-16; Heb. 10:25)
BELIEVERS BAPTISM Baptism is a scriptural ordinance
of the church requiring
immersion of believers only and to be administered by a local
church. (Matt. 28:19,20; Acts 2:38; Acts 10:47; Acts 16:33)
LORD'S SUPPER
The Lord's Supper is a scriptural
ordinance of the church to
be partaken of by born-again baptized believers of like faith.
(I Cor. 11:23,24)
LITERAL RESURRECTION OF ALL MEN
The physical resurrection of both
the saved and the lost; the
saved unto the resurrection of life, and the lost unto the
resurrection of damnation. (II Cor. 5:8; I Cor. 15:51-57;
I Thess. 4:14-17; Rev. 20:3-10)
THE LORD'S CALLING THE CHURCH TO
GLORY
The pre-millennial, pre-tribulation
rapture of the saints.
(Titus 2:13; I Thess. 4:14-17; Rev. 3:10)
Section 2. Church Covenant
As a bond of unity among us, this
church accepts for its
members the following covenant:
Having been led as we believe by
the Holy Spirit to receive
the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour and on the profession of our
faith in Him, having been baptized by immersion in the name of the Father, and of
the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now most
solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one
body in Christ in this local church. (I Cor. 12:12,13)
We purpose to watch over and counsel
one another in the
spirit of brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid
each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian
sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take
offense, but always ready for reconciliation.
We agree, by the aid of the Holy
Spirit, to walk together in
Christian love; to strive together for the advancement of this
church in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its
prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances,
discipline, and doctrines; and to contribute cheerfully and
regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the
church, and the spreading of the Gospel to all nations.
We further covenant to maintain family
and private devotion;
to train up our children in the ways of the Lord; to seek the
salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly
in this present world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our
engagements, and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all
backbiting and excessive anger; to abstain from the sale and non-
medical use of intoxicating beverages and other drugs, and
everything that would cause our brother to stumble or that would
bring reproach upon the cause of Christ; and to strive to grow in
the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, that amidst evil
and good report, we will humbly and earnestly seek to live to the
honour and glory of Him who loved us and gave Himself for us.
